Quick answer

The Kamado Joe Classic II 18" is the right KJ if you don't need the SlōRoller and would rather save. It keeps the brand's DNA — 46 cm of dense glazed ceramic, the Air Lift Hinge and the Divide & Conquer system — and gives up only the III's SlōRoller deflector, making it the honest entry into the ecosystem. Its 8.9 score confirms it. It's for those who want Kamado Joe quality without the III's premium and don't do many long cooks; if you smoke brisket or pulled pork every weekend, the Classic III's SlōRoller is worth the difference.

The Classic II keeps the Kamado Joe DNA — dense ceramic, Air Lift Hinge and Divide & Conquer — but skips the III's SlōRoller. An honest gateway into the KJ ecosystem.

FAQ

  • Should I buy the Classic II or the Classic III?

The difference is the III's SlōRoller: a hyperbolic chamber that creates true convection for long smokes. If you brisket or pulled-pork every other weekend, the SlōRoller earns the upcharge — the bark sets more evenly and the temperature stabilises with fewer corrections. If most of your cooks are direct grilling and pizza, the Classic II does exactly the same job. Dense ceramic, Air Lift Hinge and Divide & Conquer are identical.

  • Why does it weigh 100 kg when similar kamados weigh 80?

Because the ceramic is denser. Kamado Joe uses a thicker mix than budget brands (Kamado Bono, Pit Boss), which translates to higher thermal mass: once you hit 110 °C, the Classic II holds it for 12 hours without touching the vents. That is why it smokes better than a same-diameter but lighter kamado — the mass buffers wind and ambient swings.

  • Will it fit on a 4 m² terrace?

Tight. The Classic II is 122×78 cm with side shelves out, 80×78 cm folded. You need 50 cm clearance above the dome and at least 1 m in front to open it comfortably. In 4 m² it fits, but with little room for a table or chair. If your terrace is a typical Spanish flat balcony (3-5 m²) and you want more breathing space, go Joe Jr or MiniMax.

  • Is the lifetime ceramic warranty the same as the Classic III?

Yes, identical. Kamado Joe offers the same transferable lifetime warranty on every premium model (Classic II, Classic III, Big Joe III, Konnected Joe). The Konnected's electronics are the only exception with a limited 1-year warranty. It covers structural breaks not caused by extreme thermal shock (lighting at 800 °C from cold) — normal chipping from heavy use is covered.

  • Is Amazon Spain stock steady or intermittent?

Intermittent. The Classic II has been partly replaced by the III in Kamado Joe's official catalog, so on Amazon ES it comes and goes with the European distributor. If you see stock, do not wait — next restock can take 6-8 weeks. The red variant (ASIN B01INNA89S) is often better stocked than the standard black.
