About mikamado.
An editorial project about kamados, written from a small corner of Torrevieja by a cook obsessed with hot ceramic.
Hi, I'm Valery
I've been cooking on kamados for six years from a small flat in Torrevieja, Alicante. I started on a Big Green Egg Medium lent to me by a friend who was leaving Spain, and ended up rotating three different units during the long winters by the sea. I learnt by reading English-language forums (Naked Whiz, AmazingRibs, GuruBBQ) because there was almost nothing serious in Spanish. This site exists because I would have wanted to find it when I started.
mikamado.es is an independent editorial project — I'm not a distributor, I don't run a store, and I don't accept units in exchange for editorial coverage. My only commitment is to you, the reader: if I recommend a kamado it's because I'd pick it myself if I were starting over today, and if I steer you away from one it's because I've watched it up close.

Our editorial methodology
We buy what we review
Most of the kamados featured on mikamado.es were bought with our own money. It's the cleanest way to keep our distance from the manufacturers.
Loans only if disclosed
We accept test units from brands only when this is clearly disclosed inside the review. No conditions on coverage, no pre-publication review by the brand.
We never take payment for reviews
We NEVER accept direct payment, gifts or compensation in exchange for a review, a mention or a verdict. We never will.
Commission doesn't shape ranking
Even though we earn affiliate commission when you buy through our links, that does not decide which kamado ends up first, or what verdict it gets.
If we get it wrong, we fix it
When we find an error in a review, we correct it on the page and leave a dated note at the bottom of the article so the change is on the record.
If you buy a kamado through one of our links we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you — it's what funds this project. No manufacturer has paid, pays or ever will pay to be placed higher in our reviews.— Valery Grin, editor
