Read this first: the Summit Kamado E6 is NOT ceramic. It's double-walled insulated porcelain-enameled steel. Weber calls it a kamado, but technically it's a hybrid that behaves differently.

Verdict

Solid Weber hybrid — but not a traditional kamado, and that changes how it cooks.

7.6/10

Pros

  • Weber build quality and robust warranty
  • Lighter than an equivalent ceramic kamado (85 kg vs 110+)
  • Extensive Weber Spain service network
  • 61 cm — cooks for 8-10

Cons

  • Not pure ceramic — loses more heat than a traditional kamado
  • Lower thermal mass: long smokes need more fuel
  • Doesn't share the ceramic kamado accessory ecosystem (BGE, KJ)
  • Rust risk in coastal areas if maintenance is neglected

For you if…

If you trust Weber over a lesser-known brand and accept the steel trade-off.

Not for you if…

If you want the thermal mass of dense ceramic — then Classic III or Big Joe III.

Essentials to get started

FAQ

  • Is it a real ceramic kamado?

No. The Summit Kamado E6 is built from double-walled porcelain-enamelled steel with insulation between the walls — not dense ceramic like Kamado Joe, BGE or Monolith. Weber calls it a "kamado" for the shape (egg, vent control, indirect cooking) but technically it is a hybrid. It weighs 85 kg against 110-170 kg for an equivalent ceramic kamado — that gap is exactly the thermal mass it lacks.

  • How does the cook differ vs a ceramic kamado?

Three things: it loses heat faster when you open the lid (steel conducts better than dense ceramic), it reacts sooner to wind shifts or cold ambient drops, and burns 20-30% more charcoal on long smokes to hold 110 °C. Short cooks (grilling, pizza, 4-hour ribs) — little noticeable difference. A 14-hour winter-night brisket — yes, ceramic is more stable.

  • Is it worth it vs the Big Joe III?

Only if three things matter more to you than ceramic thermal mass: 1) Weber Spain service (the country's widest BBQ network), 2) lighter install (85 kg vs 170 kg), 3) Snap-Jet ignition. If you live near a Weber dealer and hate KJ's customs delays, the Summit makes sense. If long disciplined smoking is your thing, Big Joe.

  • Does it rust on the Spanish coast?

A real risk if maintenance lapses. Weber's porcelain-enamelled steel is protected by a high-temperature-fired enamel, very tough, but coastal salt air in Levante or Andalusia attacks any micro-fissures (knocks, thermometer screw holes, seams). Wipe these zones with a damp cloth every 2-3 weeks and use a waterproof cover, and it lasts decades. Skip that and rust spots appear in 5-7 years.

  • Does Weber's warranty cover the firebox for 10 years?

Yes, 10 years on firebox and lid, 2 years on non-structural parts (thermometer, grates, side tables). The standard Weber Summit warranty, honoured across Spain through the official dealer network — one of the real reasons to pick Summit over a premium ceramic kamado if frictionless service matters. Not lifetime like Kamado Joe, but post-sale coverage in Spain is hard to beat.

  • Can I use BGE or Kamado Joe accessories?

No. The Summit Kamado has Weber-specific internal dimensions, different from BGE or Kamado Joe standards. Grates, deflectors, plate setters, multilevel racks — all Weber-specific. That sharply narrows third-party accessory options: most generic "24-inch kamado" parts on marketplaces will not fit. Verify compatibility with the E6 model code before buying any accessory.
