FAQ

  • Is the IBT-26S the WiFi version of the IBT-4XS you already have in the catalog?

Yes, direct successor. Keeps the four probes, bumps Bluetooth to 5.1 (70m local) and adds 2.4 GHz WiFi to monitor the cook from the supermarket or work. If you only cook at home, the IBT-4XS still works; if you run long smokes and want to leave, the upgrade pays off.

  • Why only 2.4 GHz WiFi and not 5 GHz? Will it work with my router?

2.4 GHz has longer range and goes through walls — the right choice for a device that will live on a terrace, not next to the router. Any modern home router broadcasts both bands, but some recent fibre models (newer Movistar/Orange ones) ship with 2.4 GHz disabled by default. You enter the router panel and re-enable it — ten minutes and done.

  • Do I need to keep my phone next to the kamado or does WiFi route through the cloud?

Cloud. Once paired, the IBT-26S connects to your router and pushes data to Inkbird servers. Your phone queries the app from anywhere — just needs internet. Same model as MEATER Plus but at a much more reasonable price.

  • Does it fit all kamados or only specific ones?

Universal — the unit does not mount on the kamado, the probes just hang through the lid seal or a grate. Any kamado, gas grill, offset smoker, oven or WSM takes it. Probes are 304 stainless, -20 to 250°C range.

  • What if the WiFi drops mid-cook?

The IBT-26S keeps cooking and logging locally — it does not depend on WiFi to work. When the link comes back, it syncs history with the app. And if you move away from the router but stay within the 70m Bluetooth 5.1 range, the phone auto-switches to direct connection. Solid dual-link design.
