Long tongs made for charcoal, not food: 50 cm of 18/10 steel that let you rearrange hot coals, build your kamado basket or set up heat zones without roasting your knuckles. They work even with gloves on.

A piece many people discover late: dedicated charcoal tongs change how you start a kamado. The 50 cm let you place lit briquettes exactly where you want and push coals to open an indirect zone without touching food or dropping ash on it. The 18/10 handles direct heat contact without warping.

Editor's verdict

The tong that separates improvisers from fire controllers. 50 cm of 18/10 just for coals: rearrange, build zones, save your hand.

8.3/10

  • 18/10 stainless steel that withstands direct heat contact
  • Rearrange briquettes and build indirect zones precisely

Who it's for

For those who manage charcoal by hand: building the basket, rearranging briquettes and creating heat zones in a kamado or charcoal grill.

Not for

These aren't food tongs — the teeth are made for charcoal. If you only cook on gas or electric, you don't need them.

FAQ

  • How do they differ from ordinary food tongs?

These are purpose-built for handling charcoal and briquettes: the tips are wide and toothed to grab irregular lump and reposition embers without dropping them. You do not want your food tongs for this — direct heat and ash ruin the fine food-grip. Alongside a Rapidfire chimney they are the clean pair for fluid-free lighting.

  • What are they made of and do they take the heat?

They are Rösle 18/10 stainless, the same as their kitchen range, so the body easily withstands live-ember heat. The metal does heat up with prolonged use, so pair them with gloves if you will spend a while rearranging the fire. Dishwasher safe.

  • Can I use them to dump the chimney into the kamado?

To tip the chimney it is better to grab it by the handle, but these tongs are ideal for spreading embers once inside and shaping direct/indirect heat zones. If you also want to clear ash and level the bed, the Weber charcoal rake complements them well.
