Does it replace a chamber thermometer like the Inkbird or TP25?
No. It is an instant-read, not a chamber thermometer: you stab the meat for a couple of seconds to confirm the final temp and stash it away. For long cooks you need a Bluetooth probe set (TP25, IBT-4XS, IBT-26S) living inside the kamado. The Javelin PRO Duo is the companion, not the replacement.
How quickly does it give a final reading?
2-3 seconds to stabilise at ±0.5°C — Thermapen territory. The folding probe is thin (1.5mm tip), so it goes in and out leaving almost no juice trail. For steaks or breads where you do not want to stab ten times, the speed matters more than you would think.
Can I rinse it under the tap or only wipe it?
Under the tap fine — IP65 covers moderate water jets. What we do NOT recommend is dunking it in soapy water or putting it in the dishwasher. For sticky grease, warm water and a cloth do the job. The battery-compartment seal is what ages if you overdo the water.
How long does the CR2032 battery last?
4,000 hours claimed under normal use — that is two or three years for a household doing weekly BBQ. The display auto-sleeps after 90 seconds idle, so stand-by drain is minimal. When the indicator starts blinking, any pharmacy CR2032 will do.
