FAQ
Does this rake fit any kamado?
Yes. It is designed as a universal tool for vertical kamados: the 50 cm handle reaches the bottom of the firebox on a Kamado Joe Classic, a Big Green Egg Large or similar without scraping the ceramic walls. The blade is narrow enough to slip between the charcoal basket and the base, so it is not tied to one brand.
What is it made of, and does it handle residual heat?
It is stainless steel, handle included, so it copes easily with contact with ash and warm ember debris when you clean between cooks. It does not rust from ash moisture or warp like thin aluminium scrapers. Even so, the ash is best removed once the kamado has cooled down.
What exactly is the paddle shape for?
The paddle scrapes the firebox base and pulls ash toward the front without removing the basket or deflector. The straight edge lets you separate still-usable charcoal from the fine dust that chokes the draft. In a couple of passes you recover good embers and clear the airflow.
