FAQ
Which kamados does this fiberglass gasket fit?
The 4.5 metres of mesh cover the best-selling models: Big Green Egg Large, Kamado Joe Classic and Big Joe. You cut the strip to the lip of your base and lid, so there is enough to seal one large kamado fully with comfortable margin for mistakes.
When should the original gasket be replaced?
The factory Nomex felt chars and frays after two or three seasons of heavy use. The tell is a lid that no longer seals tight and loss of temperature control. This fiberglass mesh with a stainless reinforcement tolerates more direct heat and stretches the interval between replacements.
How is it installed correctly?
Strip the old gasket and clean the ceramic lip of adhesive and soot down to bare material. Bond the new mesh with a high-temperature adhesive, press while cold and let it cure before the first cook. A properly cleaned lip is the difference between a seal that lasts and one that peels away.
