Origins and track record

ThermoPro is a Chinese brand founded in 2014 (buythermopro.com) that specialises in affordable cooking thermometers. In barely a decade it has become one of the category's best-selling names on Amazon on both sides of the Atlantic, precisely by offering mid-range features at entry-level prices.

What sets it apart

Its hallmark is making wireless temperature monitoring accessible. In the mikamado catalogue it's represented by the ThermoPro TP25, a Bluetooth thermometer with four probes that lets you track several cuts —or the meat and the chamber temperature— at once from your phone, with target alarms and a range of several metres so you're not chained to the grill.

Our take

On long low-and-slow cooks —a brisket or a pork shoulder— the thermometer is the instrument that decides the outcome, and the TP25's four probes are more than enough for a home cook. Based on the specifications and the user community, alongside our experience with our Big Green Egg Large, Bluetooth is both its strength and its honest limit: it's perfect on a terrace, but its range won't match RF or WiFi models like ThermoWorks or MEATER if you need to step indoors. For 90% of uses, it's plenty.

Who it's for

For anyone who wants to move to temperature-led cooking without overspending. We recommend it as a first serious multi-probe thermometer: reliable, easy to read, and with just enough app to stop you lifting the lid every ten minutes —the biggest enemy of a good kamado smoke.
