The replacement when the OEM lid thermometer fogs, drifts or cracks. 50mm dial, 50-500°C range, universal thread — replaces most stock thermometers.

Bimetallic stainless steel thermometer, 50mm dial with tempered glass, 35mm stem with universal M14 thread and locking nut. 2-pack — one on the lid, one in the drawer for backup. 50-500°C range covers smoking at 110°C to pizza at 450°C. Drop-in replacement for the original on Kamado Joe Classic, BGE Large, BGG, Patton and most M14-threaded charcoal grills.

Editor's verdict

Two for less than a single OEM — the sensible replacement.

7.8/10

Pros

  • Universal M14 thread — fits 95% of kamados and grills
  • 50-500°C range — smoking to pizza
  • 2-pack — backup in the drawer
  • Stainless + tempered glass — rain and bump resistant

Cons

  • Bimetallic — ±10°C accuracy (not for precision steaks, use a probe)
  • No field calibration — factory-set, take as is

Who it's for

For any kamado or grill owner whose lid thermometer is fogged, off-calibration or broken.

Not for

If your kamado has a proprietary thread (some older BGE Original variants) — confirm stem diameter before buying.

FAQ

  • Will it fit the hole in my kamado or grill?

It has a universal thread and a 50 mm dial, the most common dimensions for lid thermometers, so it replaces the stock unit on most kamados and lidded grills. It is worth measuring your lid's hole diameter before buying, but in practice it covers the vast majority of home setups.

  • When is it worth replacing the original thermometer?

When the factory one fogs up inside, drifts out of calibration and shows readings that do not add up, or its glass cracks. Those are the three classic lid-thermometer failures. As it comes in a pack of two, you have an immediate replacement plus a spare for next time, with no interruption to your cooks.

  • What temperature range does it measure?

The dial covers 50 to 500 °C, the useful range for both low-and-slow cooks at 110-130 °C and high-heat roasting and pizza above 350 °C. Being analogue, it gives a dome reading at a glance; for precision in the core of the meat, pair it with a probe thermometer.
