Origins and heritage

Char-Broil is an American brand from Columbus, Georgia, founded in 1948. It belongs to the W.C. Bradley group — the same house that acquired Kamado Joe in 2018 — which places it inside a company with real standing in the barbecue world. It's historically known for its gas grills with TRU-Infrared technology and for a wide range of universal accessories — brushes, covers, tools — found in hardware stores across Europe.

The product we carry

At mikamado we've picked its 360° Cool-Clean all-nylon brush (model 140 001). Its bristle-free brush range solved one of the chronic problems of home barbecuing: the wire fibres that shed from a classic brush and can end up in the food. The 360-degree design with nylon bristles cleans the grate cold or warm, without leaving dangerous filaments behind.

Our take

We recommend it on grounds of safety and common sense. Based on the specs and on our own experience cooking on our Big Green Egg Large, a nylon brush is an accessory that removes worry compared with the classic wire ones. The honest caveat, and the maker's own small print: because it's nylon, it must be used on a cold or barely warm grate, never red-hot, as extreme heat will melt it.
