Essentials to get started

FAQ

  • Is buying a white-ceramic kamado a good idea?

Only if aesthetics matter to you. The diamond-cut white ceramic is the Diamant 50's visual signature and looks stunning on a light-floored terrace. But white shows soot, grease and fingerprints far more than black — that means a baking-soda wipe every 2-3 cooks to keep the look. In coastal salt-air the white yellows slightly over the years.

  • Is it really pre-assembled or are there parts to mount?

Pre-assembled 80%. It arrives with the ceramic body already mounted on the cart, screws tight, gasket fitted. What you do: screw on the two wooden side trays (10 minutes with a screwdriver), fit the thermometer, place the grate and deflector. Pallet to first light-up: 30 stress-free minutes. A real edge over kamados that ship in pieces.

  • Should I buy the Vision or the Pit Boss K24?

The Vision is 11 cm smaller (50 vs 61 cm) and more photogenic; the K24 is bigger and a more recognised Spanish BBQ brand. If you cook for 6-8 and want unique looks, Vision. If you cook for 8-10 and want an established dealer network, K24. Both share honest, similar ceramic — neither plays in the KJ or BGE premium league.

  • How do I clean the white ceramic without damaging it?

Baking-soda paste (mixed with water) applied with a soft sponge — never green scour pads or abrasives, they scratch the enamel. For specific soot marks, 50% diluted white vinegar. After every long cook, let it cool and wipe the outside with a damp cloth. Once a year, deep-clean with neutral detergent. Five years of this routine and the white stays pristine.

  • Will Vision Grills still exist in 5 years?

Vision has been on the US market since 2012 and entered Europe around 2018 — not a flash in the pan, but not Kamado Joe in company size either. The realistic risk is not closure but the Diamant 50 being pulled from the European catalog, making specific ceramic spares hard to find after 8-10 years. The ceramic itself lasts decades; what gets tricky is the branded thermometer or the OEM gasket.
