BBQ-Toro

Origins and background

BBQ-Toro is the house brand of a German outdoor-cooking distributor founded in 2014 that sells almost exclusively online, through Amazon and its own web shop. It is not a kamado maker in the classic sense but an accessories-and-cookware house with a broad, uneven catalogue —cast-iron woks, dutch ovens, griddles, add-ons— within which a handful of small, affordable ceramic kamados sit.

What sets it apart

The product that earns its place in our catalogue is the BBQ-Toro Haiiro 32 cm, a tabletop kamado aimed at small terraces, first-timers with ceramic, or anyone wanting a compact second unit. The spec sheet shows details finished above its price tier: bamboo handles and a crackle-glaze enamel that give it a more refined look than most entry-level ceramics. The brand rounds out the offer with accessories such as the electric charcoal blower, handy for speeding up lighting.

Our assessment

We selected it because it fills a genuine gap: the honest, small ceramic kamado with no competition pretensions. Based on the specifications and our experience cooking on the Big Green Egg Large, we have to be candid: a 32 cm body carries far less thermal mass and inertia than a large, dense ceramic, so long-cook stability and capacity are limited. In return it is light, easy to handle and keenly priced. We recommend it as a starter or support unit, not as a replacement for a full-size kamado.
