The MEATER Pro (also sold as the 2 Plus) is the evolution of the thermometer that normalized cable-free probes. No wires to scorch, no leads in the way: the whole capsule goes inside the meat, with sensors reading core and ambient temperatures and relaying them over long-range Bluetooth to your phone. For indirect kamado cooking it is near perfect: insert, close the lid, and the app tells you when to pull and rest.

  • Does it really run with no cables inside the kamado?

    Correct: it is a fully wireless probe you push into the meat and shut the lid on. It reads the meat’s internal temperature and the ambient kamado temperature at once, transmitting to your phone over Bluetooth, with the charging dock acting as a repeater. Zero cables out through the gasket, which is exactly what dirties and wears the seal.

  • What range does it have? Can I run errands?

    The MEATER is Bluetooth with a repeater, not pure WiFi: real range covers the house and garden, not the neighbourhood. To go further you must leave a phone near the dock and use the app’s WiFi bridge. To truly monitor from the supermarket an Inkbird IBBQ-4T WiFi suits better; the MEATER wins on clean, cable-free elegance.

  • Does it survive a hot sear?

    The probe withstands up to 550°C on its exterior section, so it survives searing and reverse-sear with no issue, something that kills cheap wired probes. What you must respect is the marked safety line: insert it to the indicated point so the tip electronics stay protected. For large, long cooks like brisket or pork shoulder it is more than enough.
