Origin and background

Semboh is a Chinese kitchen and barbecue accessory brand whose trademark is registered to Shenzhen Senbaihui Technology Co., Ltd., based in Shenzhen. It runs essentially as a marketplace label: its commercial run traces back to around 2011 and its footprint sits on Amazon, without the specialist-manufacturer heritage that other names in our catalogue carry. In fairness, we won't hang a workshop-and-R&D story on it that we can't verify — what matters here is the actual product and how it fits into outdoor cooking.

What it does

Its territory is heat-resistant gloves and mitts for oven and grill. The usual models pair aramid fibre with a non-slip silicone coating, a build meant for handling hot grates, shifting charcoal and gripping trays without slipping. It's the most common thermal-protection category in the kamado world, where the temperature of the dome and the grids forces you to work with your hands covered.

Our take

At mikamado we include protection gear of this kind because it answers a genuine need for anyone cooking on a kamado. Based on the specifications and the wider user community, an aramid-and-silicone glove is a sensible buy for occasional tasks: moving grates, turning pieces or lifting out the deflector. In the interest of honesty, we also flag the caveat: against the sustained heat of live coals — when you need to poke directly in the burning charcoal — a silicone glove gives out sooner than a thick leather welder's glove.
