Origins and background

Klarstein is the home-appliance and kitchen brand of the German group Chal-Tec, based in Berlin and founded in 2007. Its DNA is online retail: much of its volume flows through a very strong presence on Amazon.es, spanning everything from wine coolers to air fryers. Its move into ceramic cooking is recent and comes from that generalist-brand logic rather than any barbecue heritage.

What sets it apart

In kamados, Klarstein plays the accessible, no-frills format card. Based on the specifications, the response from the user community and our own experience cooking on our Big Green Egg Large, the proposition is sensible: real ceramic at a contained price. In return, keep expectations realistic. Don't expect the wall thickness, the stainless-steel hardware or the accessory ecosystem of a specialist like Kamado Joe or Big Green Egg, nor as robust a support and spares network. It's the kind of kamado on which you learn to master temperature control before, if the hobby sticks, stepping up to a high-end machine.
