HORL is the brand under which the HORL3 Cruise roller sharpener is sold, and the manufacturer named on that Amazon listing is HORL 1993 GmbH. Its own product pages state production in the Black Forest, Germany, and speak of a "HORL principle": a knife in a magnetic holder, the angle chosen, and a roller sliding along the blade. They also mention an earlier line, the HORL2, against which they compare their new products.
No further verifiable details are on record. No founding year is stated, and there is no history from an independent source or hands-on test: everything comes from the seller's listing. Among the little the listing says is that the Cruise's body is made from plastic that a Swiss partner, #tide, collects on beaches. So with HORL, comparative figures such as material removal or grip are best read as brand claims rather than measured evidence.
