Grill Heat Aid is a US brand headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada, specialising in heat-resistant barbecue gloves. It presents itself as one of the pioneering makers of grill-specific gloves, and its whole catalogue revolves around heat-protection accessories for outdoor cooking.

Our take

Its signature product is a glove made from aramid fibre — the same family as Kevlar and Nomex — with EN407 certification. On paper it's the right answer for hard work around the fire: handling grates, moving charcoal, pulling a piece straight off the grill, smoker or oven. Aramid takes direct flame and high temperatures far better than silicone, and the cotton inner lining adds a layer of insulation.

The honest caveat: aramid gloves win on heat resistance but lose dexterity and, above all, fear moisture — grab something wet and heat can drive through the fabric. It's the opposite trade-off to a silicone glove. Based on the specs, the EN407 certification and our experience cooking on a Big Green Egg Large, for work beside a kamado's coals an aramid glove like this is the more sensible choice; you just need to keep it dry.
