BRAND

Falci

Origin: Italia · Founded in 1921

Some kitchen brands arrive by way of the design studio; others arrive by way of the forge. Falci belongs firmly to the second camp, and you feel it the moment the tool is in your hand. Long before it made oven peels, this house spent a century putting an edge on scythes, sickles and field tools in an alpine valley of northern Italy. That iron heritage is exactly why a peel this plain reads, to us, as a quiet masterclass in craft.

Roots: a century of iron in Dronero

Falci was born in Dronero, in Piedmont, in 1921, when several local blacksmiths brought their forges together under one name. The valley's tradition runs far deeper: for centuries, water power drove the workshops where cutting edges were hammered out by hand. From that comes an identity still legible today, steel, fire and hammer, with no shortcuts. The same culture of the cutting edge eventually found its way into the kitchen, and the pizza peel is one of its most honest products.

What sets a Falci peel apart

A good peel is judged on things a photo never shows. The 32 × 34 cm aluminium peel we carry from Falci is light, rigid and thin-edged, exactly what you want when sliding the blade under the dough without tearing it. Aluminium keeps the weight low, so your wrist stays fresh from one bake to the next, while the wooden handle insulates against the heat and gives a secure grip. This is not a perforated or composite peel; it is a classic tool, built to move in and out of the oven with a confident gesture.

Our take, and who it is for

We have tried it on our terrace in Torrevieja with both a wood-fired oven and a countertop one, and what wins us over is its quiet reliability: it does the job without demanding attention. The 32 × 34 format is more than enough for Neapolitans and medium bakes, though for very large pizzas or back-to-back loading you may prefer a perforated peel that sheds excess flour more cleanly. For anyone cooking outdoors in the Costa Blanca climate who wants a serious, durable, no-nonsense tool, we think it is an easy call, and the piece that best sums up a brand that has understood cutting edges for a century.
